Privacy Policy

Summary

• You don't need an account to play, and we don't ask for your name or email to use the game.
• Your game progress, statistics and settings are saved in your own browser using local storage. We don't receive this data.
• Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.
• The site loads fonts from Google Fonts.
• MyWordIQ and SPARES are designed to be supported by advertising, including optional rewarded advertisements that unlock hints. No advertising service is active yet. When one is, it may use cookies; this policy will be updated at that time.

Information stored in your browser

MyWordIQ and SPARES use your browser's local storage to remember:

• your progress on each puzzle (guesses entered and hints unlocked),
• your statistics (games played, wins, streaks and guess distribution),
• your settings (dark theme, high contrast and reduced motion), and
• whether you have already seen the quick “How to play” guide.

This data stays on your device. The game does not send it to us or to anyone else. It is not shared between devices or browsers. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; doing so resets your progress and statistics.

Local storage is not the same as a cookie, but browsers usually let you manage both from the same settings screen.

Cookies

The MyWordIQ and SPARES games themselves do not set cookies. Third-party services used on the site — in particular advertising services, if and when they are enabled — may set or read cookies or similar technologies. See “Advertising” below.

Information collected automatically

When you visit any website, your browser sends technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. Our hosting provider may record this in server logs, which are used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website.

Third-party services

Google Fonts. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these files, Google receives your IP address and standard browser information. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Analytics. MyWordIQ and SPARES do not currently use an analytics service. If we add one, we will update this policy.

Advertising

MyWordIQ and SPARES are intended to be supported by advertising. The site contains spaces labelled “Advertisement” that are reserved for ads, and an optional rewarded hint feature that lets you choose to watch an advertisement in exchange for a hint.

Current status: at the time of this update, no advertising service is connected. The ad spaces are empty placeholders, no advertisements are served, and no advertising cookies are set by MyWordIQ.

If we enable advertising through a third-party service such as Google AdSense, we will update this policy. At that point:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• When you choose to watch a rewarded advertisement for a hint, the advertising service delivers the ad and tells the game whether the reward was earned. The games only receive that result; the service's own privacy policy governs any data it collects.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• You may also be able to opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

We will update this policy when advertising is enabled. More detail is on our Advertising page.

If you email us

If you contact us at contact@mywordiq.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to read and respond to your message.

Children

MyWordIQ and SPARES are general-audience websites and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Clear your game data: delete this site's data in your browser settings.
• Control cookies: most browsers let you block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies.
• Advertising personalization: use the ad settings links above once advertising is enabled.
• Rewarded hints: watching an advertisement for a hint is always optional. You can play every puzzle without hints.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, if advertising or analytics are added. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
